Yes! I have a kindle 3 g. While I still prefer ” real” books, the kindle is wonderful for getting a book from amazon in seconds. Hmm. I must admit that I was a bit anxious about reading from an e -reader, but reading from my kindle is just as easy as from a book.
But it is easier to make notes and put post- it’s in a real book – so when I’m reading to review a book – I prefer a ” real paper book.”

I just got an ereader for Christmas, and thus far it doesn’t even come close to physical books. I’m realizing that I’m really attached to holding the book and turning the pages. I also don’t like that ebooks don’t have page numbers, so I don’t have a good concept of where in the book or chapter I am. There’s no way I’ll give up my real books, and I see the ereader only being used when it is totally necessary (international travel, etc.)

I just got a Kobo Vox for Christmas and I’m loving it! There will always be “real” books that I buy and authors that I collect that I would rather have in print, but it’s so nice to be able to just log onto the internet and get a new book in seconds without leaving the house! It’s great for travel too, one thing in my carry-on instead of multiple books in my luggage!

I’ve had a first generation Nook since last year, but received an Android tablet for Christmas. So I plan to continuing using the Nook app on my tablet. The only thing I missed was the ability to take notes in the margins, but this is now much better on the tablet app.

No ereader….yet…I think I’m experiencing kindle envy 😉
Seriously, I’ve been thinking about it for a while but I have so many TBR on my shelves that I don’t feel I would use it very much. Although, It would be handy for making notes and especially for reading non-fiction. Interestingly, a friend of mine teaches a class of highschool kids with reading difficulties, they are all issued with e-readers and the vast majority take to them just like their mobile phones.

I received the Kindle touch for Christmas after I lost my old faithful KIndle during hurricane Irene. I tend to read from the kindle when I’m on vacation for traveling since I’m trying to knock out the books in my TBR stacks.

I don’t have an e-reader. Before I use to say that I don’t need one either. But now that I am spending so much time commuting to and fro for my work, I am thinking that I want one. Carrying a book around especially if it’s heavy gets difficult at times. An e-reader can solve that problem.

I do not have one, but I do want one. I really want an ipad (Santa says i wasn’t good enough to get one for Christmas) and would use that as my e-reader. I am saving for one myself instead of relying on Santa. Ha!

I inherited a Kindle from my son tried it &love . Formy birthday my son gave me The Kindle fire &also love it.I still buy REAL books all the time .

I love my Kindle2. I use it for HUGE books (e.g. *Infinite Jest*, Dickens) and for when I can’t wait for new hardcover prices to come down into my territory. I just gave my mother a Touch for Christmas, and now my 2 feels old and clunky. I’m not sure that anything can replace book smell and feel, but I’m delighted to have an additional opportunity for reading.

I don’t have one….yet; and once I do have one (I might have to try my kids’ kindle) I don’t believe it will ever completely replace the actual books. I love holding book, the smell of a new book and I believe a packed book case is the most beautoful piece of furniture.

I obtained a Kindle in early December as it was a special deal “too good to refuse” *lol* My sister has had one for a while and I was seriously coveting it, but didn’t buy one as I have a physical TBR mountain that is positively dangerous! And I love books – real books. However I know the Kindle will be very useful when we go travelling.
No need to enter me for Purple Hibiscus as I’ve already read it. It’s a truly wonderful book!

I have an iPad2, and use the Kindle, Nook, iBooks, Overdrive, and BlueFire Reader apps. That way I can read an eBook no matter what platform (although given the choice, I’d still pick paper).

I have a nook – not a fancy one… I have to say, although I use it frequently on business trips (used to have to carry a separate bag for books) I still love holding a “real” book and turning the pages. There is just something about going into a bookstore and seeing mountains of books that excites me in a way the lightweight, super convenient nook cannot.

I don’t have one yet but plan to get one soon. (If I put my B&N gift cards and Christmas gift money together, I might have enough!) But then I would have to get a Nook. I think I’d rather have a Kindle Fire. When they first appeared, I had no interest in them (not another screen to stare at!), but now they’re calling to me. It would be very convenient, especially for traveling. I will still read physical books too. I would miss my library and book store trips.

I don’t have an ereader. I’ve thought about getting one, but I just can’t commit to actually buying one. I know there are lots of nice things about them, but none so tempting as to make me go get one.

Glad to see I am not the only one who does not have an e-reader. My husband and daughter both have a kindle and love them, but I just love the feel of a book in my hands. Plus I need a back cover to look over!! I do however have the kindle app on my iphone and I always have a book loaded on it for those times when I find myself waiting in a line. I have actually read several books that way!

I don’t have an e-reader and I don’t really want one. I have never felt compelled to go the digital route when it comes to reading. I like to hold a physical book in my hands – I like the tactile sense of it. As long as my floors don’t cave in from the weight of books, I don’t think I will be getting an e-reader any time soon.

I have an iPad and use it to read – it was great when I went on a trip for 3 weeks and could load it up with books. But day to day, I still read a lot of paper – I have so much of it in my house! Also, I commute on buses and subways and I find my iPad can be a little cumbersome to pull out on public transport.
So I guess I am in transition . . . .

I have a Kindle. I got it for Mother’s Day last year. Thus far I haven’t read anything on it but have loaded it with a lot of the classics. It already has an issue of not staying on even when fully charged. Thankfully I got the extended warranty for it. But I have a feeling that when it is up and running I will only use it in bed and when traveling. I just haven’t been able to make myself read anything on it yet.

I don’t own an e-reader, yet. Up until a month or so ago I didn’t really want one. Now, with the convenience of carrying several books around in such a small package and being able to borrow ebooks from my library, I am considering using some of my holiday it cards toward the purchase of a Nook.

I have both a 2nd generation Kindle and a new Kindle fire. For books, I prefer to read on my Kindle 2. I love the keyboard and easy ability to highlight passages and take notes. It’s so light and comfortable to hold. I utilize the folders immensely to organize my reading (yes, there is an Orange Prize folder filled with books!) I have become quite enamored with the Fire too, but I use it mostly for reading magazines, simple web browsing and streaming video.

No need to enter me in the contest for this one Jill as I already have it but I wanted to chime in. I got an iPad 2 for Christmas (totally unexpected) and immediately loaded it with iBooks, the Kindle app, the Nook app and Overdrive (so that I can use it to get e books from the library). I’ve read one book on it so far and have to say, although I’ll never give up regular books, it was a good reading experience. I was able to highlight passages and look up definitions of words. So I’ll be using it not to replace regular books, but as just another way of reading.

Sounds like an e-reader would be great for reading the type of NF that calls for taking notes or looking things up on the Internet, like the book I’m reading now. I have several pages of notes, am constantly looking at the (inadequate for my knowledge) maps in the book, and checking the Internet to get more information. Fascinating book, but it assumes knowledge I don’t have. An e-reader would make it much easier.

I bought a Kindle for my Mom originally as she was doing lots of travelling and didn’t have space to pack lots of books. Gadget envy hooked me and I treated myself to one. I was sceptical at first as to how I would fare with it but I am a convert. I will never give up on ‘real’ books but the freedom to take several books with me at a time is a huge bonus. Another huge benefit is when I fall asleep I don’t loose my place, the Kindle simply goes to sleep too!

Hi. I am a new kindle user (one of the many who got one this Christmas) and I am a convert. I was looking for inspiration for a book for my next book group and as my father had just given me a jar of hibiscus flowers in syrup I googled books with Hibiscus in the title. I came across this book and it looks really interesting. But not available in kindle edition on Amazon UK. So what luck to find this competition. I hope I am lucky!
